Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka

Hand-colored sepia-toned photograph

This mysterious stepped pyramid temple is known as Satmahal Prasada, found in the quadrangle at Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka

The ancient city of Polonnaruwa, deep in the central plains of Sri Lanka, was the playground of kings and the capital of the country. The city peaked during the reign of King Parakramabahu (1153-1186) who unified Sri Lanka and oversaw the expansion of Polonnaruwa. He built magnificent temples, palaces and pools as well as a comprehensive irrigation system that is still in use today.

The signed prints are made by the artist with archival pigment ink on museum paper or canvas.

The designated sizes are measured edge to edge of the printed image. There is approximately a 1” border added, all the way around the images, printed on Fine Art paper, to accommodate the title & signature and room for mat edge.
